The educational activity of the Laboratory of Magnetism & Magnetic Materials (M3L-AUTh) concerns the field of magnetism and the magnetic properties of matter, but also the relative field of electricity. At the undergraduate level, the courses “Electricity-Magnetism”, “Electric Circuits Laboratory”, “Electromagnetism”, “Magnetic Materials and Applications”, “Solid State Physics Laboratory (Magnetic Characterization)” and “Solid State Physics II (Magnetism and Superconductivity)” are offered in the Physics Department, while at the postgraduate level, the courses “Materials Physical Properties (Magnetic Properties)”, “Materials Characterization Laboratory (Magnetic Characterization)” and “Low Dimensional Materials” are offered in the master’s degree program “Materials Physics & Technology”.
The research interests of the M3L-AUTh members are part of the wider scientific field of Physics & Materials Technology with an emphasis on Magnetism and cover the following research subjects:
- Magnetic and electrical properties of matter
- Magnetic materials and devices
- Nanoscale magnetism and applications
The basic research equipment of M3L-AUTh includes:
- Vibrating Sample Magnetometer
- Mößbauer 57Fe spectroscopy
- Devices for measuring electronic and ionic conductivity
- Devices for preparation and processing of materials
- Magnetic hyperthermia device
